Every day you wake up, and very quickly, your mind is flooded with thoughts. For most of us, it is about our day; what's next, what do I have to do, where do I have to go? Then we hop on our phones to run through all of our apps like IG, Snapchat, Facebook, & before you know it, 30 minutes have gone by, you haven't started your day, you're procrastinating, and ultimately overwhelmed.
Then it is a race to get ready for work, get the lunches made, kids off to school, and the day feels rushed, and over time, this becomes the mundane as we work through an autopilot mind when I say the autopilot mind where have all been there. How did I get to work today? It becomes such a part of your week, month, and year that you don't need much bandwidth to get from point A to B.
So let's go back to when you wake up. After you scroll through all your apps, how do you feel? What thoughts are going through your head? If you're honest, it a lot of negativity. It is an argument that happened the other day at work or with your significant other. Or you are telling yourself I don't want to get up. I don't want to do this. I want to sleep more. I'm tired. This sucks. Why is my life like this? I don't want to work out. I'm fat. I'm old. I'm ugly. All these old narratives pop up in your thoughts as you talk to yourself through your day.
Your perception of your life and the words that you use dictate the quality of your life, but here is the deal. You think about yourself has nothing to do with you but how other people make you feel or how other people think you should think, act, and feel. A long time ago, someone said you weren't good enough, smart enough, strong enough, and many other things, but the theme is that you are not enough. This bleeds into all aspects of your life and your concept of self. It's a story you tell yourself that isn't true. If you eliminate those limiting beliefs, you will find a high level of happiness, confidence, joy, love, and a whole and complete feeling.
What can you do to let go of those negative thoughts and limiting beliefs? Stay off of your phone for the first hour after you wake up each day. Allow your mind to wake up naturally without inundating it with information overload. Start a mediation practice each morning that resonates with you. There are many excellent, FREE, meditations on YouTube that are guided and include soothing music. It doesn't take a lot of time, and you can start with as little as 5 minutes a day!
When you start choosing YOU each day and make time for self-care, you tell your subconscious that you are enough and worthy of that time. In as little as 21 days, you will think, act, feel more confident, and begin showing up differently in your life. The quality of your relationships will improve as you begin to set healthy boundaries with friends and family. When you start choosing YOU, what is listed above will begin to occur naturally.
Stay off your phone when you wake up, begin a mediation practice, and watch how your thoughts change! When you change your ideas in a positive direction, you change your life!
